HINTS (Home Instructors Need Team Support, Inc.)
is a homeschool support group that
serves the geographical area of south
Charlotte and has been in existence
since 1985.
VISION STATEMENT: HINTS exists to support parents as they provide for the day-to-day needs of their students and homeschool.
Benefits to our members as well as to the greater homeschooling community and Annual Events include:
While much of the efforts of our support group involve supporting parents of homeschooled children, each year many activities are organized by our members to meet the needs
of our students as well. Activities vary each year based on what our members see as needs.
HINTS provides communication for our members only via:
- group emails
- a yahoogroup
- an electronically published member handbook
- this website which includes monthly newsletters and a calendar of events
Membership is open to any homeschooling family,
though most of its members are Christian. In addition, to join HINTS one must live in the vicinity of south Charlotte (NC) and be able to offer at least two services to the group annually.
HINTS is governed by a Board of Directors who, according to our By-Laws, must all be professing Christians. The HINTS Board believes that parents
have a constitutional right and a
God-given responsibility to provide
the best possible education for each
of their children. It is the HINTS Board's belief that, for parents who
have been called to home education,
this responsibility is made easier
with the support of other homeschooling
parents.
HINTS is a member of CHEA (Charlotte Home Educators Association) and supports NCHE (North Carolinians for Home Education) in a variety of ways, including two scholarships awarded to qualified homeschooled seniors at the NCHE Conference each Memorial Day weekend.
